Phil Mickelson's company applies for coffee trademark

Is Phil Mickelson ready to venture into the competitive coffee industry? It appears that way.

Mickelson's company, Mickelson Inc., has applied for a trademark through the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the use of Coffee For Wellness, according to ESPN's Tom VanHaaren.

The company filed the application on June 9 for the trademark on coffee, coffee beans, coffee pods and other applications of coffee. It's paired with a mark of Mickelson's signature logo and a silhouette of Mickelson with his arms stretched above his head.

This isn't the first time Mickelson has ventured into the world of non-golf related products. He's been promoting an elixir as part of his new health regimen, and consistently drinks an Ethiopian type of coffee.

There's been no word on what the trademark will be used for, or if Mickelson will be offering a similar coffee that he drinks, but maybe he can get a few pointers from his pal Tom Brady, who has filed plenty of trademarks over his 20-year NFL career.
