As the PGA Tour player-directors get ready to prepare for the meeting with Public Investment Fund (PIF) governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan for the merger talks, Rory McIlroy has taken an aim at Greg Norman . Though he is no longer a member of the board, he did not hold back from commenting on it.

In a fresh new attack at Greg Norman, Rory McIlroy claimed that there was a “big disconnect” between the PIF and LIV Golf, the circuit PIF funds. The four-time major champion also expressed that this guys have done a disservice to the name of Al-Rumayyan.

Speaking at The Players Championship conference, McIlroy said:

I think I've said this before, I have spent time with Yasir and his—the people that have represented him in LIV I think have done him a disservice ... so (Greg) Norman and those guys. I see the two entities, and I think there's a big... I actually think there's a really big disconnect between PIF and LIV. Rory McIlroy on LIV Golf.

This words from McIlroy are once again echoing in the golf world. It also comes after he shockingly softened his stance on LIV Golf in recent months. At that moment it seemed, the North Irish golfer was willingly to forgive the golf defectors. However, this fresh aim at Norman suggests otherwise.

Speaking on this huge meeting, According to reports from Sports Illustrated, the place and timings of this meeting is still a mystery. It is though likely that the meeting could take place in Florida, where The Players Championship was held.

Will Tiger Woods be part of this important meeting?

After the other PGA Tour Player-Directors of the policy board including Patrick Cantlay confirmed their attendance in this meet, there is one person in Tiger Woods who has so far not made any public comments regarding this. This has led to many wondering whether he will attend this important meeting.

The 48-year-old in August 2023 took over the reins as the sixth member of this board while recovering from an injury. A reason for his silence on this topic could be due to his absence from The Players Championship this year.

It was widely expected that after withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational, this event would be the one where Woods makes his presence felt. Unfortunately, that did not turn out to be the case as he did not register his name for the event before the deadline.

When asked about this, Rory McIlroy claimed Tiger Woods should definitely be part of the negotiation process due to his duties as the player-director.

He’s a player director, he’s on the board. He absolutely needs to be involved. Rory McIlroy on Tiger Woods as per SI.

Whether Woods will be part of this meeting will be unveiled on Monday when the policy board members come together. How much will this meeting speed up the merger talks between the PGA Tour and PIF now remains to be seen.
