Last week, Tiger Woods and Nike went their separate ways after a 27-year partnership. Woods indicated it was time for a "new chapter" at this point in his career. I opined that TaylorMade was a natural fit for Tiger in this transition period as the brand can offer Woods an apparel deal and an equipment line, the latter of which Nike scaled back almost a decade prior. Now, we're starting to get an idea of what the "new chapter" might look like.

TaylorMade Files Trademark Application for 'Sunday Red'

According to reports that surfaced Friday, TaylorMade Lifestyle Ventures LLC has filed a trademark application for a "Sunday Red" collection. Of course, this branding has been a Tiger Woods staple since his career began. Interestingly, the trademark filing also features a "Tiger" logo.

Woods owns the rights to his famous "TW" logo, even following his split with Nike. It appears TaylorMade will be heavily featured in the "new chapter" of Woods' career, though the logo rebrand may come as somewhat of a shock to many golf fans.

The partnership itself makes all the sense in the world. TaylorMade has served as a longtime sponsor, and the resurgence of an equipment line furthers the argument that Woods is in the right spot for the back nine of his career.

What's On Tap Next?

Though TaylorMade's trademark has been filed, nothing is official just yet. Golf fans likely won't receive further clarity until Tiger Woods appears at his next tournament. His status for next week's Farmer's Insurance Open is still up in the air, and he may wait to make his return later in the season at the Genesis.

For now, golf fans play the waiting game as Woods will only be playing in a limited number of events during the 2024 PGA season.
