Aaron Boone: Aaron Judge not reaching 62 home runs wouldn't 'put a damper' on historic season
The New York Yankees and host Texas Rangers are playing a doubleheader on Tuesday in what will be one of Aaron Judge's final chances to hit his 62nd home run this season. Judge is leading off in Game 1 and it's been reported that he's expected to be in the Game 2 starting lineup as well.
The frontrunner for AL MVP honors grounded out to lead off the opener on Tuesday, so the anticipation remains. Before the contest, Yankees manager Aaron Boone talked about Judge's monster 2022 campaign and addressed the possibility of No. 99 not breaking Roger Maris' 61-year-old franchise record for home runs in a single season.
If Judge is unable to hit his 62nd home run on Tuesday, he'll have one more shot on the final day of the MLB regular season on Wednesday when the Rangers and Yankees square off at 4:05 p.m. ET.
