Aaron Judge, Anthony Volpe bonded after Yankees' walk-off win

Hours after a thrilling 3-2 walk-off victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, a group of Yankees, including slugger Aaron Judge and rookie dynamo Anthony Volpe, took in some off-the-field bonding.

Along with injured outfielder Harrison Bader, Judge and Volpe attended Game 3 between the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Near the midway point of the second period, the trio appeared on the jumbotron at MSG to a rousing ovation from the New York faithful.

The Yankees' captain has seemingly taken a liking to Volpe, the team's exciting first-year shortstop. Before last year's spring training Judge presented Volpe with a PlayStation 5 so the two could face each other in "FIFA 23."

Meanwhile, Judge hasn't been bashful about sharing his admiration for Volpe's game on the field. After Volpe's Major League debut, Judge praised the rookie, confirming that "He's ready to go."

Volpe's impressive start continued on Saturday, launching a two-run homer in the eighth to give the Yankees the lead late.

However, Volpe didn't get to play the hero. After the Blue Jays tied the game with two runs in the top half of the ninth inning, D.J. LeMahieu walked it off for New York, singling home Isiah Kiner-Falefa for the winning run.

Volpe's homer was his lone hit of the day, while Judge didn't play much of a factor in Saturday's win, finishing 0-for-4 with a strikeout.

Yankees fans should be pleased seeing the team's unquestioned leader yucking it up, out in the wild with the 21-year-old future of the franchise. Also, pandering to the rabid sports fans in New York by showing up together at a Rangers' playoff game makes for great PR.
