All-Star SS Brandon Crawford signs two-year, $32 million extension with Giants

San Francisco Giants three-time All-Star shortstop Brandon Crawford has committed some more time to his current employer.

Per Maria Guardado of the MLB website, Crawford and the Giants have agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $32 million that now keeps the 34-year-old attached to the club through the 2023 season.

Crawford earned his third All-Star nod earlier this year and began Friday batting .296 with 19 home runs and 69 RBI in 95 games. According to ESPN, Crawford set the franchise record for most contests played at shortstop earlier this season.

Crawford has played only for the Giants since the 2011 MLB season and has won two World Series rings with the organization. He may be on track to earn a third, as San Francisco heads into the weekend in first place in the National League West division standings at 74-41, five games ahead of the second-place Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Giants open a series versus the Colorado Rockies (51-64) on Friday.
