Andres Gimenez, who was the key piece that the Cleveland Guardians received from the New York Mets in the Francisco Lindor deal, received a well-deserved honor on Monday night.

The All-MLB first and second teams were revealed on Monday, and the 24-year-old was selected to the second team.

In 491 at-bats, Gimenez hit for a .297 average while crushing 17 home runs, driving in 69 runs, stealing 20 bases, and posting an .837 OPS.

The Venezuela native also had 26 doubles, 46 extra-base hits, and logged 229 total bases.

Gimenez was one of three Guardians players to receive All-Star selections in the American League, joining elite closer Emmanuel Clase and slugger Jose Ramirez.

Gimenez Takes Home Elite Honor

Gimenez gave the Guardians a little bit of everything in 2022.

He and Amed Rosario formed a solid middle infield duo for the team.

He was also one of several young stars to leave their mark on the team along with Rookie of the Year finalist and Gold Glove outfielder Steven Kwan, Oscar Gonzalez, Josh Naylor, Clase, and Triston McKenzie.

The Guardians had acquired Gimenez from the Mets after the 2020 season in the same deal that sent Lindor and Carlos Carrasco to Queens.

So far, the deal has worked out just fine for the Guardians, who surprised many in 2022, defying preseason expectations and earning their first American League Central division title since 2018.

The Guardians carried that momentum into the postseason too, eliminating the Tampa Bay Rays in the Wild Card Series before falling short in five games to the New York Yankees in the ALDS.

In addition to Gimenez receiving his honor, Clase was named to the All-MLB first team.
