Every year during the Winter Meetings, the MLB hosts the Rule 5 Draft. The draft is a way for players in other organizations to get poached by new teams, and hopefully find better success in getting to the Majors.

The Angels were among the many teams that were looking to improve the roster by adding players from this year's draft.

The Angels made two moves by acquiring former Yankees prospect Eric Wagaman and Boston Red Sox prospect Ryan Miller.

Eric Wagaman

Wagaman is an intriguing acquisition from the Angels as he is a young corner infielder from Mission Viejo and has also spent some time playing in the outfield with the Yankees Double-A affiliate, the Trenton Thunder.

Last season, Wagaman had his best year in professional baseball slashing .320/.382/.500 while hitting five home runs, 16 RBIs, seven doubles and striking out just 27 times.

Ryan Miller

Coming out of college from Arizona, Miller was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the sixth round of the 2018 MLB draft. He would quickly find himself part of the Red Sox organization after being drafted by the Diamondbacks.

During that time, Miller has played four seasons in the minors and just made it to the Red Sox Double-A team last year.

Primarily serving as a relief pitcher in his career, Miller has a career record of 14-12 in the minors with an ERA of 4.26 in 105 games.

Last season, he had a career-high for innings pitched (60.1) and strikeouts (67).
