The Los Angeles Angels claimed infielder Livan Soto off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.

The Angels announced the move via social media.

Soto returns to the Angels after two weeks in the Orioles' organization. He was originally designated for assignment to make room for reliever Jose Cisnero on the club's 40-man roster.

The 23-year-old has minimal major league experience, though he has appeared with the Angels the past two seasons. He has appeared in 22 games and slashed .375/.414/.531 in 71 trips to the plate.

In a corresponding move, the Angels placed former closer Jose Quijada on the 60-day injured list to make room for Soto.

Quijada recorded four saves in 10 games last season, pitching nine innings. The Angels reliever recorded a 6.00 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over his 10 appearances in 2023. His season officially ended on April 27, and he underwent Tommy John surgery in May.

The Orioles designated Soto for assignment to clear a spot for Diego Castillo who, coincidentally, was DFA'd on Sunday.
