Angels manager suspended for postgame meltdown at umpires

Major League Baseball announced on Saturday that Los Angeles Angels manager Phil Nevin has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount of money for a post-game meltdown at the conclusion of his team's 4-1 loss to Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.

Nevin was infuriated over a strike call that was made in the ninth inning and needed to be physically restrained by ballpark police from going after the umpires on their way to the locker room.

Have a look.

Nevin could be seen screaming at the umpires and holding up a smart tablet attempting to show umpires how bad the call was.

He then needed to be restrained.

The Angels loaded the bases with one out when Michael Stefanic was called on to pinch hit for Shohei Ohtani after he had to be removed from the game due to cramps for the second straight day. Stefanic struck out looking which was the play that set off Nevin.

The game ended when Mickey Moniak lined out to second base.

Given how angry Nevin was and how much he needed to be restrained he is very lucky the suspension from the league is just a single game. He will not appeal it and is serving his suspension for Saturday afternoon's game in Toronto.
