The Angels have some starting rotation questions to answer with the new season starting soon, but they made one move on Saturday to clear things up. The team optioned right-hander Zach Plesac, cutting things down in the fight for the rotation.

Plesac signed a minor-league deal with the Angels this winter, with the hopes of turning it into a spot in their rotation. But he has struggled through spring so far, giving the Angels no choice.

He has posted a 5.68 ERA over 6.1 innings of work thus far, showing that he may not be ready to take over a spot. Plesac will still be able to pitch in the spring games but will need to show a lot more before he gets a chance back at the major league level.

Plesac will get a chance to show what he can do in the minor leagues to start, but until he can succeed there, his big league career is paused. The signing of the right-hander was thought to be a solid depth move by the Angels, but he hasn't been able to show any consistency.

It's back to the drawing board for the Angels with Plesac, and things have gone way downhill for him since the early part of his career. They will now look to other arms to fill the final rotation spots.
