Los Angeles Angels pitcher Sam Bachman is expected to have his season delayed while he recovers from shoulder surgery last fall. He is expected to miss about a month of the year, but he has been busy working through his rehab.

Bachman has also been busy working off the field, earning his degree in Integrated Studies from Miami University (Ohio) over the offseason. This is an awesome moment for Bachman and shows how dedicated he is to finding success in different areas.

The Angels are hoping that when Bachman returns to the mound this season, he can compete for a spot in their rotation. They won't rush him back, and the front office still believes in his upside going forward.

Last season with the Halos, he was limited to just 17 innings of work. But he did show some promising performances on the mound.

Bachman posted an ERA of 3.11 and a WHIP of 1.65, all while striking out 14 opposing hitters. He was able to pick up one save before going down with his injury, showing that he can work out of the bullpen as well.

However, his time in Triple-A was a little different. He posted an ERA of 5.81 in six games last season. The Pacific Coast League tends to inflate pitchers' statistics, so there isn't a major cause for concern.

With him still only 24 years old, there is still plenty of time for him to reach his potential. Bachman is a former first-round pick and should be a big contributor to the Halos this coming year.
