Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout left Monday night’s game against the Cleveland Indians after the first inning due to what was initially described as a calf injury.

Trout was seen hobbling on the diamond after an inning-ending pop out. He did not look great. Unfortunately for the Angels, they shared some bad news when it comes to the three-time American League MVP on Tuesday. Trout will miss six to eight weeks with a strained right calf.

This is not something that neither the Angels nor MLB as a whole wants to see. Trout, 29, is the face of the game and the best all-around player in baseball.

Thus far this season, the 29-year-old is hitting .333 with eight homers and 18 RBI. He leads all of MLB in on-base percentage (.466), slugging percentage (.624) and OPS (1.090).

For his career, Trout is a ridiculous .305 hitter and has belted 310 homers since joining the Angels back in 2011.

With Trout out for an extended period of time, Los Angeles will have to rely on current MLB homer leader Shohei Ohtani to do the heavy lifting. The 2018 American League Rookie of the Year has belted 13 homers while driving in 32 runs and posting an otherworldly .925 OPS.

Los Angeles currently finds itself at 18-22 and in fourth place in the American League West.
