The Los Angeles Angels have signed former World Series champion Ehire Adrianza to a minor league deal.
Angels manager Ron Washington made the announcement to reporters on Friday.
Adrianza, 34, has been around the block in his MLB career. After spending the first four years of his career with the San Francisco Giants, Adrianza has played for the Minnesota Twins, Washington Nationals, and Atlanta Braves.
The shortstop and third baseman has a career .238 batting average and has hit 21 home runs and 149 RBIs in 1,368 at-bats. He also has a career 0.7 WAR and has scored 183 runs in his career.
He's primarily played in a bench role in his career, only appearing in more than 100 games in two seasons — 2018 and 2021.
In 2021, he was a member of the Braves' World Series championship team, going 1-for-10 in the postseason with a double, a run scored and two strikeouts.
The veteran infielder will join the likes of Hunter Dozier and Miguel Sano as non-roster invites vying for an Opening Day roster spot. He'll get a little bit of a later start to camp, though, depending on how long it takes to get with the team.
At this stage, the deal is not yet official, as it's pending a physical.
