The Atlanta Braves announced they have filled their MLB coaching staff vacancies, promoting two internal candidates and hiring one from outside the organization.

As we speculated soon after third base coach Ron Washington was hired by the Los Angeles Angels, Matt Tuiasosopo, the manager of AAA Gwinnett for the last three seasons, was promoted to replace Washington.

Tuiasosopo, 37, has been a manager in Atlanta's minor leagues for the past four years, running Single-A Rome before moving up to AAA Gwinnett.

Replacing Eric Young Sr. at 1st base is Tom Goodwin, previously a roving instructor in the organization. He's held this same position with both the Boston Red Sox (2018-2021) and the New York Mets (2012-2017).

The outside hire is Erick Abreu, coming to Atlanta from the Houston Astros organization. He's been working as a minor league pitching coach for the previous nine seasons and will replace the departed Drew French as Atlanta's bullpen coach.

These three hires have finalized the coaching staff for manager Brian Snitker, but there's also some new duties to be assigned. Infield instruction, previously the realm of the "Fungo King" Ron Washington, will be added to the duties of bench coach Walt Weiss.
