Injuries to the pitching staff has been a theme for the Atlanta Braves in the early going of this season, and it's not getting any easier.

The team has been without Kyle Wright in the early going, and after placing ace Max Fried on the injured list earlier this week with a hamstring issue, the Braves received bad news on closer Raisel Iglesias and minor league starter Ian Anderson.

Iglesias was shut down with shoulder inflammation during the final week of spring training and manager Brian Snitker says that he has yet to resume throwing. Snitker says until Iglesias can pick up a ball and throw, we won't know more on his timetable.

Iglesias came to the Braves last year in a trade from the Angels and had a microscopic 0.34 ERA in 28 games and 26.1 innings. He has a lifetime 3.00 ERA in his career with the Reds, Angels and Braves. This will be his ninth season in the major leagues.

As for Anderson, he is heading to the minor league injured list with an elbow problem. It's been a rapid fall for Anderson, who is still just 24 years old. He started high leverage playoff games in both the 2020 and 2021 seasons for Atlanta, including throwing five shutout innings in the 2021 World Series, but was sent to AAA last season and finished the year with an ERA of 5.00.

He struggled this spring and gave up four earned runs in 0.2 innings during his first start of the year at AAA Gwinnett.

He will continue to be re-evaluated.

As for some good news, Wright is expected to re-join the team soon.

The Braves are playing the Padres at home on Thursday at 7:20 p.m. ET.
