Former Atlanta Braves manager and current Baltimore Orioles bench coach Fredi Gonzalez says that he would like the opportunity to manage a big league club again.

Per Jon Morosi of the MLB Network:

Orioles bench coach Fredi González on @MLBNetworkRadio moments ago: “I would love the opportunity to manage again.”

González, who led Atlanta to 2 postseason appearances, said he’s had 1 managerial interview since the Braves let him go in 2016.

Gonzalez has spent 10 years as a big league manager, including four with the then-Florida Marlins and six with the Braves. He led the Marlins to two winning seasons in that time and led the Braves to 89 wins or more in three different seasons. He was fired during the 2016 season after getting out to a 9-28 start in Atlanta.

Lifetime, he's 710-692 with those two playoff appearances. His only playoff win came in the 2013 season with Atlanta.

If you are a coach trying to get noticed, there aren't many better places to do it right now than Baltimore. The Orioles are one of the top, young teams in all of baseball. They are coming off a 101 win season and an American League East crown. They were beaten in the AL Division Series by the Texas Rangers, who went onto to win the World Series.

The Astros, Guardians, Angels, Cubs, Mets and Giants have already hired managers in this offseason so Gonzalez appears to have to wait until at least next offseason.

The Padres and Brewers are still waiting to hire managers.
