The Blue Jays have acquired cash considerations from the Atlanta Braves for reliever Ty Tice.

ESPN's Kiley McDaniel was first to report the transaction, but the team has since confirmed the move,.

Tice appeared in four games for the Blue Jays this season, pitching seven innings and allowing four earned runs. He had been DFA'd earlier this week.

Tice was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 16th round of the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft out of University of Central Arkansas and progressed through Toronto's system. This season was the first year Tice appeared in the big leagues, striking out six batters and walking four in his four outings.

Across Double- and Triple-A in 2019, Tice pitched 57.2 innings, posted an ERA of just 2.34 and struck out 64 batters. The 24-year-old was designated for assignment earlier this week to clear a 40-man roster spot for veteran reliever Carl Edwards Jr. Edwards Jr. appeared in his first game as a Blue Jay in the series sweep against Miami, pitching a clean inning of relief allowing just one hit.

Tice and Edwards are two of the 19 different relievers the Blue Jays have been forced to use this season due to an onslaught of early injuries. Because of the many injuries, 40-man spots have become hard to manufacture for the club and players such as Tice have been the necessary casualty.
