Braves activate Pablo Sandoval for bench role in postseason

The Atlanta Braves have activated a rather unsuspecting player in preparation for their postseason run.

Atlanta announced that Pablo Sandoval has been activated and will play third base on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox.

Sandoval is being prepped for a bench role in the postseason for the NL East champions. With the Braves having a lot of right-handed options on their bench, Sandoval provides a left-handed option as he's a switch-hitter.

The 34-year-old joined the Braves on a minor league deal earlier this month after he was released by the San Francisco Giants.

Sandoval was batting .220 with one home run and six RBI this season for the Giants, which was his second stint with the team.
