Braves eyeing multiple franchise home run records in 2023

With one of the deepest lineups in recent MLB history – all nine regulars with double-digit home runs – the Atlanta Braves have been the most exciting team to watch this season, with home run ability up and down the roster.

For the first time in team history, the Braves have five players with 25-plus home runs on the season – and they are looking to add more to that total.

Outfielders Ronald Acuna Jr. and Marcell Ozuna have joined infielders Matt Olson, Austin Riley and Ozzie Albies as Braves hitters with 25-plus home runs. But with catcher Sean Murphy and outfielder Eddie Rosario both sitting at 20 long balls on the season, two more players could very well be added to the history books alongside them.

If either Murphy or Rosario is able to reach 25 home runs, the 2023 Braves will join the 2003 Boston Red Sox and the 2019 Minnesota Twins as the only teams in MLB history to accomplish the feat of having six players with 25-plus homers in a season. No team has ever had seven players accomplish it in the same season.

The 2019 Twins roster also featured five players with 30-plus home runs and the Braves are not too far behind joining them. With Olson already over 30 home runs, Riley has 29 dingers while Albies, Acuna and Ozuna are all on 28 with 36 games left to play in the 2023 regular season.

They will also be going after the single-season team record (set by the 2019 Twins) of 307. With 240 on the year the Braves will need to continue their slugging ways to have a chance at another piece of history over the last 36 games as the season comes to an end.
