Braves' Huascar Ynoa out a couple of months after breaking hand punching bench

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa had a rough Sunday when he allowed five runs and nine hits in 4.1 innings in a 10-9 loss to Milwaukee Brewers. However, his weekend and spring got even worse when he reacted to the outing by punching the club's dugout bench.

The Braves confirmed ahead of Monday's series opener against the New York Mets that the 22-year-old has been placed on the injured list with a fractured right hand. Per The Athletic, Braves manager Brian Snitker announced the right-hander will be sidelined at least a couple of months.

"It's a shame," Snitker said. "Probably nobody that feels any worse than him."

In a corresponding roster move, Atlanta recalled Edgar Santana from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Across eight starts this season, Ynoa went 4-2 with a 3.02 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 44.2 innings of work.

"I felt like some pitches weren’t going my way or falling into the spots that I wanted but at the same time, you have to give credit to the hitters on the other team," he said after Sunday's result, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN). "You have your good days and you have your bad days. You have to learn from the bad days."

The Braves began Monday's action at 19-21 overall and in third place in the National League East standings, two games behind the first-place Mets.
