Braves outfielder Adam Duvall to have season-ending wrist surgery

Atlanta Braves outfielder Adam Duvall will have wrist surgery, according to manager Brian Snitker, and will reportedly miss the remainder of the 2022 season.

Duvall, 33, exited in the third inning of a Saturday game against the Los Angeles Angels with wrist soreness. On Sunday morning, the Braves placed Duvall on the 10-day injured list with what the team called a sprained wrist.

The injury leaves the Braves thin in the outfield even after the team got Eddie Rosario back from an eye injury earlier in July. Rosario is batting .132 this season and Atlanta moved Guillermo Heredia and Michael Harris II into the starting lineup with Ronald Acuña Jr. on Sunday.

Duvall was traded by the Cincinnati Reds to the Braves in 2018 and spent a few seasons with the team before joining the Miami Marlins as a free agent in 2021. He was again traded to the Braves later that year and helped the team to a World Series victory by recording a hit in five of the six games against the Houston Astros.

Atlanta brought back Duvall on a one-year deal and received $9.275M after arbitration. This season, he batted .213 with 12 home runs and 36 RBI.

The Braves fell to 58-39 with a loss to the Angels on Sunday and trail the New York Mets in the NL East standings by one game.
