Braves re-sign RHP Josh Tomlin to one-year, $1 million deal

Veteran right-handed pitcher Josh Tomlin isn't going anywhere.

The 36-year-old, who spent the last two seasons with the Atlanta Braves, has signed a one-year contract with the National League East outfit. Per news shared by the Braves on Wednesday, that agreement is worth $1 million and includes a $1.25 million club option for the 2022 season.

Tomlin has made 68 appearances, six of which were starts, for Atlanta since joining the team ahead of the 2019 campaign. He finished the pandemic-shortened 2020 season with a 2-2 record, 4.76 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 36 strikeouts in 39.2 innings of work.

He twice took the bump versus the Los Angeles Dodgers during the NL Championship Series.

According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Tomlin's 1.31 walks per nine innings is the best for any active pitcher who has recorded at least 900 career innings.

Before 2019, Tomlin spent the prior nine seasons with the Cleveland Indians, and he helped the Tribe make the 2016 World Series by tallying 13 regular-season victories that year.

Overall, Tomlin enters 2021 with a career mark of 65-56 and a career ERA of 4.69.
