Braves' Ronald Acuna Jr. targeting May 6 return

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. is getting closer to returning to action after tearing his right ACL in April 2021.

According to The Athletic's David O'Brien, Acuna Jr. is targeting April 6 to rejoin the major league squad.

Currently, on the 10-day IL, Acuna Jr. has been on a rehab assignment with Atlanta's AAA affiliate, the Gwinnett Stripers.

While the Braves expect to know more about Acuna Jr.'s status next week, manager Brian Snitker says rehab for the two-time All-Star is going according to schedule.

"Everything coming out of it's been really good, all indications that he's right where he needs to be," Snitker said. "I give a lot of credit to him, the dedication he's had in his rehab. He's done everything right."

In three games with the Stripers, Acuna Jr. is batting .333 with two doubles, a triple, and two walks in 11 plate appearances.

Before his ACL injury, Acuna played in 82 games in 2021, finishing with a .283 batting average with 24 home runs and 52 RBI.

The 24-year-old has spent four seasons with the Braves, playing in 395 games, batting .281 with 105 home runs and 246 RBI.
