The win was Craig Counsell’s 563rd as manager, tying him for the most in franchise history. Counsell is still the leader in all-time win percentage as a manager for the Brewers.

Willy Adames Leads the Way
The Milwaukee Brewers were led on offense by shortstop Willy Adames. Despite a slow start to the season at the plate, Adames went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs on Sunday.
Adames now leads the Milwaukee Brewers with 11 home runs on the season. After the game was over, though, he gave all the credit for the win to the Brewers’ pitching staff:
Jason Alexander Makes Brewers History
Rookie starter Jason Alexander made his third start of the season for the Brewers. While he did not get his first MLB win, he did enough to limit the Nationals. Alexander pitched 4.2 innings allowing seven hits, three walks, one run and two strikeouts. He lowered his ERA to 2.16. This mark is the third-lowest in team history after a pitcher’s first three starts to start out their career:
The Bullpen Looked Sharp
The Brewers had lost eight games in a row. While some of the losses were due to poor offense, there were some definite struggles from the pitching staff as well. That was not true today, though, as four Brewers relievers combined to allow just one hit and no runs in 4.1 innings of work:
- Hoby Milner: 1.1 innings pitched, one hit and one strikeout (earned the win).
- Brad Boxberger: One inning pitched, no hits and two strikeouts.
- Devin Williams: One inning pitched, no hits, one walk and no strikeouts.
- Josh Hader: One inning pitched, no hits and three strikeouts (earned the save).
Game Notes
- Luis Urias left the game in the fifth inning with right hamstring tightness.
- Omar Narvaez continued his hot streak at the plate going 2-for-4; he is now hitting .283/.372/.416.
- Tyrone Taylor was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
- Christian Yelich was 1-for-4 with a run scored as the Brewers’ leadoff hitter.
- Rowdy Tellez was 1-for-4
