The Milwaukee Brewers (61-53, 2nd NL Central) fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers (79-34, 1st NL West) by a score of 4-0 on Monday night at American Family Field. The loss puts the Brewers two games back of the St. Louis Cardinals for the NL Central lead.

In the Box: Brewers’ bats shutdown
Milwaukee struggled to capitalize on their opportunities against Julio Urías. The Brew Crew had runners on first and second with no outs in the first and third innings. They failed to produce a run in either scenario. The southpaw worked five scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Rowdy Tellez had two of the Brewers’ four hits off the 26-year-old.
Los Angeles’ bullpen kept the Brewers’ bats quiet in a dominant fashion. The only Milwaukee batter to reach base from the sixth to eighth came on a dropped third strike. Chris Martin struck out four Brewers in a scoreless sixth. Caleb Ferguson worked a 1-2-3 seventh before Evan Phillips did the same in the following frame. Veteran David Price put the finishing touches on the Dodgers’ win with LA’s third consecutive perfect frame.
Milwaukee didn’t produce any hits after the fourth inning. They finished the night 0-9 with runners in scoring position as they stranded six runners on base.
On the Mound: Bullpen struggles
Freddy Peralta made his 12th start of the season. He struggled with his command (four walks, 55% strikes) and efficiency (92 pitches, 4 IP) but limited the damage to just one run against the Dodgers’ juggernaut offense. Freddie Freeman produced the lone run off Peralta with a no-doubt solo homer in the first inning. The right-hander had three strikeouts, including a K of Cody Bellinger to strand the bases loaded on his last pitch of the evening.
The Brewers’ bullpen was a pleasant sight for the Dodgers’ lineup. In the fifth, they plated a run off Peter Strzelecki. Hoby Milner took over to begin the sixth. Two batters later, Gavin Lux crushed a two-run blast off the southpaw to extend Los Angeles’ lead to four.
Jason Alexander tossed the final three frames for Milwaukee. The right-hander didn’t allow a run. Alexander struck out two Dodgers and only allowed two hits in three scoreless innings.
