Trying to keep pace with the rest of the National League West, the San Francisco Giants went all out this offseason. They spent the second-most on free agents in the MLB, trailing only their division rivals the Los Angeles Dodgers.

But even after all of the spending they have not seen the success they wanted. 

Prized signing Jung Hoo Lee is out for the season with a torn labrum, outfielder Jorge Soler has been a disappointment and last year's National League Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell has a 6.31 ERA while making only eight starts.

Even with all of the disappointment, the Giants are not completely out of the playoff picture and one hot streak could find them right in the middle of it.

Selling isn't an option for the Giants after spending so much, so adding reinforcements to the team is likely the next step. 

With the July 30 trade deadline approaching, here is a player the Giants should target as they look to sneak their way into the playoff picture. 

One move to make: Acquire White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn 

First base has been a major weak spot for the Giants this season, with Wilmer Flores and LaMonte Wade Jr. splitting time at the position and combining for seven home runs and 44 RBI, well below the production you would expect from a mostly offensive position. 

Luckily for them, there are options on the trade block. One that makes the most sense is Vaughn. 

Born in Santa Rosa, CA, and starring for the University of California, Berkeley in college, Vaughn was the third overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft and could use the change of scenery. 

After producing 53 home runs and 204 RBI with a .256 batting average over his first three seasons in the MLB, the 26-year-old is currently slashing .237/.293/.392 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI, and while the White Sox are starting a major rebuild trading him now is a serious option for them. 

With two more seasons under team control, acquiring Vaughn would take a few prospects but nothing that would deplete their farm system. 

The Giants would hope that the homecoming would ignite his bat as they look to make a playoff run, while also giving them a first baseman for the foreseeable future.
