Cardinals place SP Jack Flaherty, OF Harrison Bader on IL

The St. Louis Cardinals' rash of injuries in June continued on Monday.

Flaherty joins outfielder Tyler O'Neill as players who have both come off of and gone back on the injured list this month. The ace righthander made his season debut less than two weeks ago but exited his start against the Chicago Cubs early on Sunday with shoulder stiffness.

O'Neill missed time earlier this year with a shoulder injury, returned to the lineup in early June and then was recently placed back on the IL with a hamstring issue. Catcher Yadier Molina is currently on the IL as well with a knee ailment.

Bader has slashed .256/.303/.370 over 246 at-bats in 2022 and is second the team (and tied for third in the NL) with 15 stolen bases. Despite the Cardinals' laundry list of injuries, they enter play on Monday at 41-34 and one game behind the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers.
