WASHINGTON - The Mets' rotation is about to get healthier.
In his second rehab start, Carlos Carrasco hurled four shutout innings for the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Sunday. Carrasco gave up two hits, issued one walk and struck out four batters.
This is expected to be Carrasco's final rehab outing before rejoining the Mets' rotation. As long as he feels good afterward, Carrasco could be activated from the injured list next weekend at Citi Field.
Carrasco has been on the IL since April 16 due to elbow inflammation, which required an injection.
In three starts this season, the 36-year-old posted an abysmal 8.56 ERA.
The hope is that he can get back on track now that his elbow is healthy again.
The Mets' rotation has been decimated by injuries this season, but they will get an important piece back in Carrasco in the near future.
