Angels reliever Carlos Estevez has finally earned the recognition he deserved. On Friday, Estevez was named to the American League All-Star team as a replacement for Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase, who's not attending the festivities to be with his newborn child.

We wish the best to Clase and his family, and Angel fans everywhere can thank him for allowing Estevez to get this much-deserved spot.

On the year, the Angels closer has been lights out, sporting a 1.85 ERA with 21 saves in 35 appearances.

The Angels signed Estevez to a two-year deal this offseason to compete for their open closer spot, and he's been leaps and bounds better than even they could have expected.

That deal is turning into one of the steals of free agency at just $13 million, as Estevez is one of baseball's best closers, and has now been awarded with his first career All-Star nod.

Estevez will join his teammate, Shohei Ohtani at the festivites, although Mike Trout, who earned another All-Star nod this year, won't be there due to his left hamate fracture.

Congrats to Estevez on this incredible and deserving achievement. Let's hope he continues his dominance into the second half of the season for the Halos!
