The Chicago White Sox continued their firesale ahead of the trade deadline on Friday afternoon, shipping out reliever Kendall Graveman to the Houston Astros in exchange for catcher Korey Lee.
This came on the heels of the Sox trading pitchers Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly to the Dodgers, and sending Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez to the Angels.
Let's start with Lee, who the Sox are acquiring. The following comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
ANALYSIS
Lee has been on the minor-league injured list since early July because of a strained oblique, but he should be able to join up with the Triple-A affiliate of the White Sox sometime in August. When healthy this season, the 25-year-old catcher has slashed .283/.328/.406 with five homers and 12 steals across 68 games in the Pacific Coast League. He batted .160/.192/.240 over 12 major-league games (26 plate appearances) for the Astros in 2022.
As for Graveman, this is second tour with the Astros. He was acquired by Houston in a deal with Seattle at the trade deadline in 2021.
The 32-year-old is 3-4 this season with a 3.48 ERA. He has eight saves and has struck out 42 batters in 44.0 innings.
He's in his ninth year in the big leagues with the Athletics, Mariners, Blue Jays, Astros and White Sox.
Lifetime, he's a 35-41 pitcher with a 4.00 ERA. He has 24 career saves.
In addition to these moves, the White Sox could still move shortstop Tim Anderson, who is said to have interest from multiple teams, including the Marlins.
