The Cincinnati Reds beat the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night to pull within 0.5 games of first place in the National League Central race.

In addition to the victory at the major league level, the Reds also got good news from their Arizona complex with regards to the injury recovery of young pitcher Hunter Greene.

The following comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Greene (hip) threw a side session Tuesday as part of a core stability program, MLB.com reports.

ANALYSIS
Cincinnati manager David Bell said Greene has one more level to achieve in the program. Once the right-hander finishes that, Greene will throw a live batting practice session then head out on a rehab assignment. "It could all happen really fast," Bell said. "Any day, it's going to happen." Greene will continue with the program at the team's complex in Goodyear (Ariz.) before a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville or High-A Dayton.

One of the most electrifying young arms in the league, Greene's ability to help the Reds in the stretch run could be a difference maker.

Greene is armed with one of the best fastballs in the game. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the draft in 2017 out of the California high school ranks.

This season, he's 2-4 with a 3.93 ERA. He's struck out 100 batters in 73.1 innings.

For his career, he's 7-17 with a 4.25 ERA.

The Reds and Brewers play again on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET as Ben Lively (CIN) pitches against Freddy Peralta (MIL).
