Cleveland's Wilson Ramos done for season with torn ACL, MCL

Two-time All-Star catcher Wilson Ramos joined the Cleveland Indians as a free agent in July but appeared in just nine contests for the big-league club.

As The Associated Press (h/t ESPN) noted, the 34-year-old is out for the rest of the season with torn ligaments in his left knee.

Ramos suffered a torn ACL and MCL in the seventh inning of Cleveland's win over the Boston Red Sox at home on Sunday afternoon while fielding a ground ball. According to Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal, a date for Ramos' knee surgery has not yet been selected. Based on the typical timeline for the recovery from such a setback, it's possible Ramos will miss the entire 2022 season while recovering.

In his nine appearances for Cleveland, Ramos batted .226 with two home runs and seven RBI. He drove in a pair of runs Sunday before the injury:

Entering Monday, Cleveland was 64-64 and was nine games back of a potential American League wild-card playoff berth.
