The Colorado Rockies may be headed for the worst record in the National League this season, but outfielder Brenton Doyle continues to impress with his defense and arm.

One of the best outfield arms in the game, Doyle has already set a Statcast Era record for a single season - and still has a month to play.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

most 98.0+ mph OF assists, single season under Statcast (2015):

2023 Brenton Doyle: 6

2022 Aristides Aquino: 4

2017 Hunter Renfroe: 4

When you talk about playing for the Rockies and playing in Coors Field, offense is always the first thing that comes to mind, but Doyle is showing the importance of the glove and arm as well.

The 25-year-old rookie made his major league debut this year and has played in more than 100 games for the Rockies. Though he's a sub-.200 hitter at the moment, he is still giving the Rockies plenty of value.

In 2022, Doyle was ranked the No. 7 prospect in the Rockies organization and MLB.com lauded his defensive ability at the time:

Doyle won a Rawlings Gold Glove for his defensive work in center field, and his plus speed will allow him to stay there, with a plus arm to boot, for a very long time. If he can refine his approach, he has the chance to bring an exciting power-speed combination to Colorado.

The prognosticators haven't been right yet on the power portion of his game, but they have gotten the speed and defense correct.

The Rockies will take on the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday at 3:10 p.m. ET.
