The Los Angeles Dodgers roster for the inaugural Spring Breakout games consists of seven of the organization’s top-20 prospects ranked by MLB Pipeline heading into the 2024 season.

The group includes catcher Dalton Rushing (No. 1), outfielder Josue De Paula (No. 4), pitcher Jackson Ferris (No. 8), catcher Thayron Liranzo (No. 10), outfielder Kendall George (No. 12), pitcher Justin Wrobleski (No. 16) and pitcher Ronan Kopp (No. 17).

Rushing was selected by the Dodgers in the first round of the 2022 MLB Draft and seems to be the team’s heir apparent to Will Smith at the catcher position. He is coming off a year that saw him .228/.404/.452 with 18 doubles, 15 home runs and 53 RBI in 89 games for High-A Great Lakes.

Rushing is excited to be part of a talented roster and looking forward to catching pitching prospect Justin Wrobleski, via Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com:

“We’re going to have a lot of guys throw in that game who aren’t even in big league camp and we have a few intriguing prospects from a pitching perspective,” Rushing said. “I’m excited to catch Wrobleski. I caught him a couple times last year and he’s as talented as can be. He’s a lefty who throws in the mid-to-upper 90s and it’s hard to find that.”

Wrobleski has quickly risen through the ranks after a solid 2023 season that saw him go 4-4 with a 2.90 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 9.6 strikeouts per nine in 102.1 innings pitched (25 games, 23 starts).

As Rushing noted, Wrobleski is a left-hander who can throw in the mid-to-upper 90s and appears to have a bright future ahead of him.

Other notable names playing in the Spring Breakout games are No. 1 overall prospect Jackson Holliday of the Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, Washington Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews, San Diego Padres catcher Ethan Salas, Chicago White Sox shortstop Colson Montgomery and Minnesota Twins outfielder Walker Jenkins.

Of the 16 Spring Breakout games, 12 will be played as part of a traditional doubleheader either before or after the Major League teams square off. The four remaining games will be played in the Major League Spring Training stadiums in Arizona and Florida.
