David Ortiz underwent another round of surgery on Monday night after he arrived in Boston, and we have heard several positive updates about his health since. The latest comes from his wife, Tiffany.

Tiffany Ortiz released a statement through the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday morning, and she said David is “resting comfortably” after undergoing a second successful surgery at Mass General Hospital. She also thanked the Red Sox organization and Ortiz’s fans for their outpouring of support.

Ortiz was shot in the lower right back while enjoying an evening at a bar in his hometown of Santo Domingo. The bullet entered through his back and exited his stomach, and he sustained injuries to his intestines and liver. He underwent extensive surgery in the Dominican Republic before being transported to Boston, where doctors performed another surgery and said he is expected to make a full recovery.
