The next MLB season is inching closer as the days go on, and teams are ramping up their efforts to fill out their rosters. The Arizona Diamondbacks have been considered a heavy favorite for next season’s World Series as they look to make it back there after losing to the Texas Rangers last season, and they have made another addition to their roster having signed outfielder Joc Pederson to a one year contract with a mutual option in 2025, and the deal is worth $9.5 million.

Pederson is a 31-year-old American player who has played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, and San Francisco Giants in the past. He is a two-time World Series champion, with the Dodgers in 2020 and the Braves in 2021, and a two-time All Star. His winning ways and strong veteran presence add a lot of value to the Diamondbacks heading into the 2024 season.

Pederson is coming off of a good season with the Giants where he hit 15 home runs adding 51 RBI’s through 121 games and 358 at bats. He joins a strong Diamondbacks team who have proven they are trying to make a push to win a championship. He joins Eduardo Rodriguez and Lourdes Gurriel as the Diamondbacks’ biggest free agent signings this off-season.

The Diamondbacks Becoming an Early Favorite

The Diamondbacks are one of the favorites heading into the new season, but nobody is on the same page as Pederson’s former team, the Dodgers. The Dodgers went out and grabbed Shohei Ohtani, Teoscar Hernandez, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto as well as trading for and re-signing Tyler Glasnow. The Diamondbacks have built a strong enough roster to compete with them in the postseason, and Pederson adds more to their lineup to give them some extra help.
