Dodgers ace Trevor Bauer has administrative leave extended to July 27
Los Angeles Dodgers ace and reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer won't be available immediately after the All-Star break. His status for the rest of the season remains up in the air.
ESPN's Jeff Passan and others report Bauer's administrative leave has been extended to July 27 amid disturbing allegations of sexual assault against the 30-year-old starter. Bauer originally had his paid leave extended last week ahead of the All-Star festivities in cooperation with the MLB Players Association, and he hasn't taken the bump for meaningful action since June 28.
Bauer has denied any wrongdoing and said through his representatives that sexual encounters between him and his alleged victim were "wholly consensual."
Passan added that Bauer remains under investigation by the Pasadena Police Department and MLB. While it's unclear if the Dodgers would welcome Bauer back to the rotation if he becomes eligible to pitch again this season, previous reports suggested his leave will continue through at least the completion of the police investigation.
