In a swap of minor leaguers, the Texas Rangers traded right-handed pitcher Ricky Vanasco to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for left-handed pitcher Luis Valdez on Thursday.

The Dodgers added Vanasco to their 40-man roster and designated right-hander Zack Burdi for assignment to make room.

Vanasco, 24, was with Double-A Frisco this season and lasted just 2 1/3 innings over two starts, giving up 10 runs (six earned). He split 2022 between High-A and Double-A ball and has yet to make his major league debut.

Valdez, 19, was most recently at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and owned a 3.12 ERA and an 0-2 record over eight starts, with 24 strikeouts and 14 walks.

Burdi, 28, never appeared for the Dodgers after they selected him off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. He pitched to an 11.25 ERA in three appearances (four innings) for the Rays earlier this year.
