Arguably one of the most iconic landmarks on the West Coast, Dodger Stadium has seemingly found its way back into the spotlight on the silver screen.
During Super Bowl LVII, a nearly 60-second trailer for the ninth installment film of the Rocky movie franchise, “Creed 3”, featured the home of the Dodgers. The commercial revealed that the stadium itself was used in the film to host the penultimate boxing match between Michael B. Jordan’s character “Adonis Creed” and his newfound rival “Damien Anderson” (Jonathan Majors.)
With the movie set to open in theaters on March 3, the film features Jordan not only reprising his role as “Creed,” but also making his directorial debut with the film. In addition to Jordan, Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashaad are also returning for the series’ third film.
After the wildly successful “Rocky” movie franchise, which included six installments of its own (with the last coming in 2006) under Sylvester Stallone, the “Creed” spinoff began its run of great reception with its first movie being released in 2015.
Expectedly, this is not the first time that the iconic Los Angeles location has appeared in a feature film. Dodger Stadium has also made appearances in “The Fast and The Furious” (2001), “Transformers” (2007), Star Trek (2009), and most recently the Elton John 2019 biopic “Rocketman.”
2023 Dodgers giveaways at Dodger Stadium
Adding anticipation for the upcoming 2023 season, the Dodgers released their list of first-half promotions and giveaways at Dodger Stadium.
In addition to newly added drone shows and always popular Friday night post-game firework displays, L.A. will offer fans eight bobblehead giveaways: Freddie Freeman on April 1, Julio Urías on April 3, Dustin May on May 1, Mookie Betts on May 15, Will Smith on June 13, Clayton Kershaw on June 15, Gavin Lux on July 3, and Tony Gonsolin on July 6.
In addition to both Mother’s and Father’s Day celebrations amongst other theme nights, other notable giveaways include a retro hooded sweatshirt on April 4, a Vin Scully jersey on April 18, and a Urías City Connect jersey on May 30.
