Former Major League All-Star Lenny Dykstra is in trouble with the law again, this time over missed rent payments on an upscale Los Angeles-area apartment.

The Daily Mail had the full story:

The former center fielder was receiving Covid rent relief, which was being offered during the pandemic, meaning the state paid his rent, according to the insider.

'But that Covid relief only lasted for 18 months and when it ended and it was time for him to start paying the rent himself, he didn't pay any more rent.

'He hasn't paid any rent for over a year and he owes a balance of over $50,000.'

Dykstra's landlord, 888 Hilgard Bliss Apartments LLC, filed an 'unlawful detainer' lawsuit to have him evicted and a hearing is scheduled for November 27 in Santa Monica where a trial is likely to be set for a jury to decide whether to kick him out.

This is just the latest in a string of legal issues for Dykstra. A 2018 NJ.com article had a list of all his alleged transgressions until that point.

When he played, Dykstra was an excellent player. The 60-year-old spent 13 years in the big leagues with the Mets and Phillies, helping the Mets win the World Series in 1986. He made All-Star teams in 1990, 1994 and 1995 and was a lifetime .285 hitter. He popped 81 homers and stole 285 career bases.

He finished second in 1993 MVP voting and led the league in hits twice. In addition to his World Series win in 1986, he helped the Phillies to the World Series in 1993, but they lost to the Blue Jays.
