Freddie Freeman's former agent drops lawsuit against Doug Gottlieb: 'We consider this matter closed'

After spending the first 12 seasons of his MLB career with the Atlanta Braves -- highlighted by an NL MVP award in 2020 and a World Series title in 2021 -- Freddie Freeman signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Dodgers last offseason.

When Freeman made his early-summer return to Atlanta in June, reports came out that the star first baseman was unhappy with how his free-agent negotiations played out. This was also around the time that the perennial All-Star fired his agent, Casey Close.

Then, Fox Sports' Doug Gottlieb reported that Close was fired for failing to disclose a final offer from the Braves during free agency, an offer Freeman reportedly would've accepted. Gottlieb added that the 32-year-old learned the news while in Atlanta for the Dodgers' series against the Braves. Close denied the claims and had filed a lawsuit against the journalist, but now, the situation appears to have been resolved.

Freeman made his sixth NL All-Star team this summer. He currently leads the league in plate appearances (601), hits (171) and doubles (44).
