Guardians scoreboard mistakenly lists Tony La Russa as White Sox starting shortstop

The Cleveland Guardians have had four games against the Chicago White Sox postponed during the 2022 regular season, including three home tilts. With both teams having a previously scheduled off day on Thursday, they are making up one of the postponements in Cleveland on Thursday afternoon.

Having come off of a three-game home sweep of the Los Angeles Angels, and having won six in a row overall, the Guardians have opened up a four-game lead over second-place Chicago in the AL Central division. A few hours prior to first pitch on Thursday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic snapped a photo (and proceeded to tweet out the image) of the Cleveland scoreboard, supposedly showing the White Sox starting lineup.

There were just a few problems.

Among the multiple issues with the listed lineup, first and foremost, is that Tony La Russa is the 77-year-old manager of the White Sox (and is currently away from the team due to medical problems). Additionally, Lucas Giolito is shown as the starting shortstop, but he is actually one of the key cogs in Chicago's starting rotation, and Joe Kelly is listed as the DH, but is a pitcher as well.

There's also no catcher listed on the scoreboard, instead a "PH," (presumably pinch-hitter) and is a player with the last name "Ford." It looks like, given the recent matchup against the Angels, there are still a handful of Los Angeles players' names up on the board (Mickey Moniak, Taylor Ward, Luis Rengifo and Mike Ford).

After their game against the White Sox, the Guardians will be hosting the Minnesota Twins for a five-game home set beginning on Friday, so will need to straighten any scoreboard mishaps ASAP.
