The Houston Astros have made a notable roster adjustment by activating right-handed pitcher Forrest Whitley from the 15-day injured list. To create space on the roster, the team has optioned left-handed pitcher Brandon Walter to Triple-A Sugar Land.

Forrest Whitley, once a top prospect in the Astros’ farm system, had been recovering from two separate knee injuries. He recently completed a rehab stint in Triple-A, where he pitched two innings across two appearances, allowing no runs or hits or walks while striking out four. Whitley will likely be used in low-leverage bullpen situations as he eases back into the major league rhythm.

Meanwhile, Brandon Walter impressed in his brief appearance with the big-league club. Called up to make his first MLB start against the Tampa Bay Rays, Walter delivered five scoreless innings and showcased strong command. Despite his effective outing, the team opted to return him to Triple-A, where he has posted a 2.27 ERA over nine appearances this season.

The move highlights the Astros’ focus on pitching depth and bullpen flexibility, especially during a grueling 17-game stretch. With both Whitley and Walter showing potential, Houston remains well-positioned to adapt to injuries and performance shifts as the season progresses.
