Earlier this week, Minnesota Twins ' legend Joe Mauer was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame by receiving 76.1 percent of the vote.

Speaking at his Hall of Fame press conference in Cooperstown on Thursday, Mauer revealed that the best congratulatory wish he's received thus far is from NHL legend Wayne Gretzky.

Per Jon Morosi of MLB.com:

Joe Mauer said @WayneGretzky texted him to offer congratulations on his election to the @baseballhall

Of the hundreds of people who have undoubtedly reached out to Mauer, that's quite a person to have at the top of the list.

The greatest player in NHL history, Gretzky is a four-time Stanley Cup champion, a 15-time All-Star, a nine-time Hart Trophy Winner and a two-time Smythe winner. He's the all-time leading scorer in league history.

As for Mauer, he played for the Twins from 2004-2018. It's been a banner calendar year for Mauer, as was also elected into the Twins' Hall of Fame last summer.

He was a lifetime .306 hitter with 143 home runs. He was named an All-Star six times, won three Gold Gloves, three batting titles and an MVP award. He paired with Justin Morneau and Johan Santana to make one of the best trios in organizational history.

Mauer also got to the playoffs four times with the Twins, appearing in postseasons in 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2017.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on July 21. He'll go in alongside Todd Helton, Adrian Beltre and former manager Jim Leyland.
