Joey Votto discusses greatness of Angels' Mike Trout

Is Mike Trout one of the greatest baseball players of all-time? Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto thinks so.

Votto joined Joe Posnanski's "PosCast" to discuss just how good the Los Angeles Angels outfielder has been since entering the league, and he only believes he'll get better as time goes on.

Trout, without question, is the best player in baseball right now. Last season he averaged .291 at the plate with 104 RBI's, 45 home runs, a .438 OBP, 1.083 OPS and 8.2 WAR.

In nine seasons the 28-year-old has averaged .305 at the plate with a .419 OBP, 1.000 OPS and 285 home runs. He's a three-time MVP, eight-time All-Star, two-time All-Star MVP and a seven-time Silver Slugger.

Trout has a long career ahead of him, and there's no doubt he'll continue to get better as the years go on.

Unfortunately for him, the Angels haven't been very good since he's joined the team... they've made the playoffs once since 2011 and things probably won't change in 2020.

If he wants a World Series title under his belt, he may want to consider requesting a trade or signing with a new team once he hits free agency. However, Trout will not be a free agent until 2031, so it seems that he'll finish out his career with the Angels.

LA has gotten better over the years, but now players like Anthony Rendon, Shohei Ohtani and Albert Pujols will need to step up and help Trout win a title.
