Little League World Series canceled for first time in 74 years because of coronavirus

Another baseball tradition of the summer has been lost to the coronavirus pandemic.

One day after the 2020 Baseball Hall of Fame induction was pushed back to 2021 because of the virus outbreak, Little League International announced that the 2020 Little League World Series has been canceled.

Per Steve Gardner of USA Today and other outlets, it's the first time in the 74-year history of the LLWS that the tournament won't take place.

Little League International is hopeful events will occur in 2021. Little League also confirmed the scheduled August 23, 2020, MLB Little League Classic between the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles has also been called off.

Like with sports around the world, the baseball community has been left in limbo because of the coronavirus. Earlier this week, Andy Martino of SNY reported MLB is considering up to 15 different scenarios to hold some sort of season during the summer and fall months.

MLB and the MLB Players Association haven't yet agreed to terms for an altered campaign.
