Texas Rangers pitcher Glenn Otto had his best injury rehab start so far for the Triple-A Round Rock Express on Saturday against Sacramento.

For the first time since beginning his rehab assignment, Otto threw more than three innings. He went three innings each of his first two outings.

Against the River Cats, he threw four innings, giving up three hits, one run (earned) and a walk. He struck out seven, a season high with the Express.

In his first two rehab starts with the Express, he threw six innings, giving up three hits and two runs (both earned). He walked none and struck out seven.

Otto was on the 60-day injured list after he suffered a right shoulder strain in Spring Training. He was considered a bullpen candidate before the injury.

Last season, Otto was a member of the Rangers starting rotation and went 7-10 with a 4.64 ERA.

Depending upon how much progress Otto makes in the minors, he could be a candidate to re-join the rotation. Jacob deGrom — signed in the offseason to be the staff’s ace — is out after having UCL surgery on his right elbow.
