Look: Reds go with bold new look for City Connect jerseys

The Cincinnati Reds were the latest team to unveil their City Connect jerseys on Saturday, and they represent a dramatic change their traditional look.

The Reds decided to go with an all-black look that has a bright red and white font across the front that spells out "Cincy."

Have a look.

“We see Cincinnati as this vibrant, energetic city. It’s a cutting-edge city," said Ralph Mitchell, the club's vice president of communications and marketing on Saturday following the unveiling. "We draw parallels from that to our current roster. We’re an energetic, young team. There’s a parallel path between the city and its evolution and the team and its evolution.”

The Reds will wear them for the first time next weekend against the New York Yankees and then wear them every Friday home game after that.

Major League Baseball and Nike first started introducing the City Connect jerseys during the 2021 season and have been gradually bringing out more and more.

There have been 18 teams that have introduced them since then. The Baltimore Orioles (later this month) and Pittsburgh Pirates will be the remaining teams to unveil them this season.

That will still leave another 10 teams for future seasons.
