Look: Royals release renderings for potential new stadium

The Kansas City Royals have one of the oldest stadiums in Major League Baseball and are interested in building a new ballpark closer to the downtown area of the city.

They have two potential locations picked, including one right downtown and another in north Kansas City.

On Tuesday, they released some renderings for what a potential new ballpark would look like.

Here is what they presented.

You can see more detail and read more detail about them on the Royals' website.

The designs look very similar to Kauffman Stadium, only with a more updated and more modern feel to them.

Even though Kauffman Stadium is the sixth oldest park in the Majors, it is still regarded as a strong stadium that has aged well even though it has been years since its last round of renovations. But unless it is one of the classics (like Wrigley Field or Fenway Park) teams are always going to be in the market for new stadiums.

There are already ongoing ballpark battles in Oakland and Tampa Bay, while the Milwaukee Brewers have also started to rock the boat when it comes to renovations for their stadium.

Kauffman Stadium shares a complex with the Kansas City Chiefs stadium is approximately eight miles from the downtown area. The Royals would like to bring the stadium closer and create a ballpark district in the city.

Designs and renderings are one thing. Getting financing and the necessary money is an entirely different fight.
